Avignon is a high-class, proud city : after all, popes once resided here with their complete entourages, from cardinals down to the usual hangers-on at court. It therefore comes as no surprise that the appearance of the city is characterised by countless churches and monasteries, as well as fine aristocratic mansions.

Antiques in l'Isle-sur-la Sorgue

The town, situated on the Sorgue river in the heart of Provence, is flooded with of antique dealers.

Once a year, the first Sunday of every August, the city boasts its floating market - not to be missed if you are visiting in early August!

L'hôtel D'Agar In Cavaillon

If you're interested in art and culture, this is not to be missed. Unique in France, this private mansion, with greek and roman foundations is an extraordinary cabinet of curiosities owned by an art collectors family. As you move from room to room, Olivier, the family's son himself guides you as you wander through major art history masterpieces of all times and places, Greco-roman antiquities, sacred and profane and even pagan art, contemporary works, an incredible napolitan painting collection, one of the greatest 14th century ceramic collection in the world, a first century treasure found in the garden, and Caravaggio's paintings.
